How To Get Rid Of Seagulls

Seagull - St Ives Cornwall
Seagull - Rattus Volaticus - St Ives Cornwall

I came across an interesting blog post this weekend. Local blogger Colin Matthews was told that putting a dead seagull on his roof would get rid of the gulls. He came across one, put it on his roof and reckons that it works !

I'm not sure that I fancy trying that - but check out the link above if you want to give it a try.

More sensibly - you might install seagull deterrents such as wires and spikes - a local roofing company offers this as a service:

Or maybe you could try contacting these guys and get a falcon in:

Any other ideas let me know.
No seagulls were harmed in the posting of this blog.

  1. They are angry aggressive birds if you attempt to move them. I cleared a nest away, despite a major protest from them. It came knocking on the window after. As though to say, I have my eye on you. It was quite disturbing!

  2. There seem to be unprecedented numbers in town this year! Walked the coast path up to Zennor last week and saw very few along the rocks and over the shoreline where they should be nesting! we know where they are! Colin D

  3. I live in Eastbourne E.Sussex about a mile or so from the beach and every morning at about 4am they start their awful noise, then again at about 5 the 6 and on and on it goes...... We have tried closing the window but it has been very warm lately so doing this just makes the room very hot and some idiot keeps feeding them and although he has been asked not to he still does it!!! He even throws out the remnants of his evening meal onto the grassed area below his window.AAARGH..... Liz C
