St Piran's Day Parade - St Ives |
The St Ives Procession to mark St Piran’s Day - the feast of the patron saint of Cornwall - will be held on Saturday 1st March 2014.
Starting at 2.00 pm and leaving from St Ives Guildhall - processing on a route along the harbour and through the town.
St Piran’s Day itself falls on Wednesday 5th March - but it has been noted by the town council that a parade on that day would clash with other events. It would also limit the number of people that could take part - being on a school / work day.
Anyone taking part is invited to wear black and white if they wish to do so. Also to bring along a black and white St Piran’s Flag.
One and all are welcome.
'The Mayor and fellow town councillors welcome this opportunity for everyone to demonstrate how proud they are to live in Cornwall, and especially pride in living / working in St Ives, and so they look forward to welcoming you.'
If you are representing a group or organisation - please contact St Ives Town Council in advance if possible. This will help with planning and give some idea of numbers. But otherwise do feel free to turn up on the day and take part.
Also - volunteer marshalls would be very welcome.
