Blabbermouth Theatre return to St Ives Arts Club with two new productions - 'Dogside Out' and 'Up and Away'.

Friday 3rd March 2017 at 7.30 pm - doors open  7.00 pm.

Dogside Out: Humankind in the doghouse ~ twenty-one fine tales - well wagged.
These short, interlaced pieces - humorous and dramatic - are about the human capacity for blending cruelty and kindness, reflected here in the many ways we treat our companion animals.

Up and Away: Cold earth shudders when a late love blossoms - a play.
Mary and George are deeply embedded in an exhausting, contentious married existence. Edna's chance arrival inspires love, hatred and the expression of needs long dormant. A humorous and moving examination of infirmity and strength - passion and morbidity - and the urge to recover purpose and meaning in our lives...before day's end.

New Bus Route - St Ives - Hayle

St Ives Bus Company - Local Services
St Ives Bus Company - Local Services

St Ives Bus Company have continued to operate local services throughout Autumn and Winter - and will continue to do so all year round.

Their No.1 route has been particularly useful for locals - running from Penbeagle down to Royal Square and on to Carbis Bay Tesco.

This route has now been extended through to Hayle - calling at Lelant - Hayle Foundry Square - Hayle Copperhouse - Hayle Retail Park.

Times and stops through St Ives to Carbis Bay remain unchanged - the route simply continues on.

A full timetable is on their website:
St Ives Buses - Route 1 - St Ives to Hayle

Other routes and timetables will be updated in the Spring.

SK8 - St Ives Skatepark Project

St Ives Cornwall - Skatepark Project
St Ives Cornwall - Skatepark Project

St Ives Skatepark is located at Penbeagle (on the edge of town - at the top end of The Stennack) and desperately needs an upgrade. It's very old-fashioned - made from wood, steel & tarmac and is very expensive to fix.

Many local kids who can travel go to other skateparks instead - because the facilities are so poor.

St Ives Skatepark Project aims to raise funds for a fantastic new concrete skatepark which will appeal to a much wider range of users.

To kickstart this initiative - they are holding an event - SK8 - at St Ives Guildhall - on Sunday 12th February 2017 - 12.00 pm to 3.00 pm.
Free entry - one and all welcome.

More information is on:
St Ives Skatepark Project - Facebook

There will be a Skate Competition and fun skateboarding session for all levels. If you don't want to (or can't!) skate you are still welcome.
The project want local people to get involved and contribute their own ideas for the park.

Some initial funding has been secured from St Ives Community Fund and St Ives Town Council. The project also has organisational support from another great local project - St Ives Community Orchard - which is also on Penbeagle next to the park.

I have to say - it makes a nice change for St Ives Town Council to be part funding a project for local young people - and in the higher end of town - where most of us locals live. A lot of our council tax money is spent on projects in the town centre - mainly for the benefit of visitors - tourist information, public toilets, fairy lights etc.

I'll post more news about the project, fundraising and how to get involved in due course.
