Cafe Art - Royal Square - St Ives Cornwall

Cafe Art - Royal Square - St Ives Cornwall

I've become a regular visitor to the new cafe in The Drill Hall on Royal Square - Cafe Art.

Nice tea, coffee and cake. Run by nice people. An outdoor seating area which is great for people watching - and I can smoke !

Well worth checking out.

They are planning to run art evenings, workshops and monthly exhibitions. Any artists interested should get in touch. I'll post details of any events here and on my OneStIves Website.

The current exhibition is Colourful Language - work by Cafe Art co-owner Zoe Eaton.

'Improvised paintings that hint at otherworldly landscapes and strange imagined flora.'

St Ives Bay - Cornwall Wave Hub

The Nordica - Cable Laying Ship - Cornwall Wave Hub

The Nordica - carrying 15 miles of cable for the Cornwall Wave Hub, arrived in St Ives Bay this week. Photographed here from Westcotts Quay.

The cable will be floated onto Hayle Towans, winched up the beach and connected to a nearby electricity sub-station. The Nordica will then deploy the cable 10 miles offshore to the site of the wave hub, with underwater trenching machines burying it in the sea bed. The hub itself will then be lowered to the sea bed and connected.
