St Ives Cornwall - Farmers Market

St Ives Farmers Market - Fresh Cornish Kiwi Fruit
St Ives Farmers Market - Fresh Cornish Kiwi Fruit

Just a reminder that St Ives Farmers Market continues through the year and is still open every Thursday at St Ives Backpackers. Open from 9.30 am to 2.00 pm.

Despite the winter there was still a great selection of fresh produce available when I went in this week. Vegetables, meat, fresh fish and my personal favourite - Ruby June's amazing curry sauces.

The latest arrivel is Cornish Kiwi Fruit - from a grower just outside Ludgvan. I must admit I didn't know that anybody grew Kiwis in Cornwall. They should be available for the mext two or three weeks - so get down to the market on Thursday if you want some.

St Ives Farmers Market - Christmas

The excellent Farmers Market have announced dates running up to Christmas.

As usual they will be open on Thursdays - 3rd, 10th and 17th December.

There will then be special markets on Wednesday 23rd December and Wednesday 30th December – as both Christmas Eve and New Years Eve fall on a Thursday this year.

All of these markets in December will run as normal between 9.30am and 2pm at St Ives Backpackers on The Stennack.

A great opportunity to stock up with tasty local produce for the festive period.

In 2010 markets will continue to run every Thursday throughout the year.

St Ives Cornwall - Farmers Market

St Ives Farmers Market. Video by Eia Films.

St Ives Farmers Market is held at The Backpackers (opposite The Sheaf of Wheat) every Thursday from 9.30am - 2.00pm.

The idea is to make fresh local produce available, reduce food miles and keep money circulating in the local economy.

What's available depends on the season and who is trading on a particular day - but normally includes fresh vegetables, bread, cakes, Cornish cheeses, locally made chocolate and vegetarian foods.

Well worth a visit.

I'm setting up a website for them. Its not quite finished but take a look:
