St Ives Gardening Competition - Presentations

St Ives Garden Competition - Best Vegetable Garden

I was at St Ives Guildhall last night for the presentation of trophies to winners of the various categories.

A nice evening which featured a slideshow presentation of St Ives gardens.

I received a cup for Best Vegetable Garden from the Mayor - Yvonne Watson - who then presented the other awards. I'll definitely be entering the competition again next year.

Finally we all tucked in to an excellent buffet with wine and soft drinks.

Many thanks to all at St Ives Town Council who organised the evening.

I'll also be participating in Secret Gardens Of St Ives again next year.

I've already started planting - Broad Bean seeds went in last weekend, ready for an early crop in the Spring.

Broad Beans Planted - Autumn 2010

I'm hoping to get some garlic planted this weekend and maybe some peas.

I've harvested the last of the cucumbers - now on sale in Trims Greengrocers on Tregenna Place St Ives if you want some. They also have some of my Jerusalem Artichokes - plenty of those still in the ground so more to come.

  1. Thanks Gilly. Yes you're welcome to wander up and have a look. Broad Beans can go in now if you get an early variety, so you get earlier crops in the Spring.

  2. Congratulations Steve! I hope all your hard work over the autumn/winter will pay off again next year both with a good result in the competition and also a bumper crop to be enjoyed! I'll be round for plums next year then

ps. I'm sure Jo has her eye on that lovely sunflower cup!

  3. Congratulations Steve. You'll never have fresher vegetables and nothing tastes as good as home grown produce.
